The Blogger was MIA last week. No excuses, really, unless Spring Fever counts as an illness under OSHA. With trees budding and flowers blooming all along THE Beach, the past couple of weeks have been gorgeous.
Among the many beautiful native blooming plants that we have, the Blue Lupine is one of the more interesting. Its vivid blue blossoms and soft, silvery leaves gave Blue Mountain Beach its name. The highest point on the Florida coast, Blue Mountain Beach was once covered with blooming Blue Lupines resting atop the snowy white sands. From a ship in the Gulf of Mexico, the high dune must have looked like a blue mountain rising along the water’s edge.
As our brief spring heats up into full-blow summer, we can continue to enjoy the many wildflowers that will soon give way to blooming oleander and crepe myrtle. As for the Blogger, I think I’ll kick back with a glass of sweet tea and take a nap.
