The Pensacola Bay Area is the “Western Gate to the Sunshine State,” nestled along the Gulf Coast between Orange Beach, Ala., and Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with an airport and access to I-10 and I-65. Pensacola offers the best of both worlds: white sandy beaches and emerald waters alongside a quaint, historic downtown. With our outdoor activities, annual festivals, historical sites, world-class museums, local shops and award-winning restaurants, there is something for everyone.

BEACHES

Visitors will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world at Perdido Key and Pensacola Beach. Explore Gulf Islands National Seashore, the longest tract of protected seashore in the country. Our coast is perfect for fishing, surfing, scuba diving, collecting seashells or just taking it easy.

For more information on the beaches, visit Pensacola Beach or Perdido Key.

HISTORY

Pensacola is North America's First European Settlement, founded in 1559. This year, we're throwing one of the longest parties in history to celebrate having the longest history in North America. To commemorate our 450th anniversary, Pensacola will celebrate for 450 days from May 23, 2008 to August 15, 2009. Come and enjoy our festivals, parades, exhibits, and stay around to explore some of our sites, such as Florida's oldest cemetery and church, and the country's second-oldest shipwreck.
